Free Poetry Workshop at MATC

posted in: Events | 2

The terrific folks from Yahara Journal at MATC have organized this free poetry workshop that I get to teach. Here’s the lowdown:

Writing Poems Worth Reading (and Even Re-reading)

What makes a poem a poem? What gives a poem its energy, its attraction, its sense of wholeness? In short, what makes a poem work? We’ll address this question through discussion of a few “working” poems and then borrow the techniques we discover in them with in-class exercises. No experience necessary—all levels are welcome.

When: Wednesdays, November 12 and 19 from 7 to 9 PM

Where: Madison College’s downtown campus at 211 North Carroll Street, Madison, WI 53703 in Room D109 (subject to change–I’ll keep you posted). Give me a holler if you think you might attend. Hope to see you there!

In my heart I’ve always been a poet, even if I’ve never really written a poem worth sharing. I’m in!
